Note: The Composite Match Score evaluates how well an isotope aligns with the physical energy response of all utilized detectors. Isotopes with similar primary energies will exhibit similar profiles.
General Information
This was built to meet the project requirements for the Georgia Institute of Technology Spring 2026 Radiation Detection (MP6757).

On a more personal note, I realize that this sort of absorption spectroscopy and improvised attenuation (the tooltips encourage folding aluminum foil or using small containers of water as attenuators) techniques are not perfect, nor are they a replacement for more advanced spectroscopic methods and devices. That said, there are lots of hobbyists and underfunded professionals that have no access to RIIDs who can benefit from a 'good enough' list of possible isotopes when measuring some unknown source. Often all they need is something to help them narrow down the possibilities so they can know what they're measuring -- sometimes you know there are only 2-3 isotopes a source could be and a label has just fallen off or weathered away. Sometimes a professional actually owns a RIID but they just left it at the office, not expecting to need it.
This app could absolutely be improved and expanded, something I'll likely do as I find more time once this semester and many of the stressors of life wind down, but I hope it meets the expectations of this course and (hopefully) proves useful for someone in the future.
